TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan is at the center of the artificial intelligence industry, and suppliers must prepare for strong growth from the second half of this year into next year, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) said Friday.
Speaking at the airport before leaving for South Korea after a 14-day Taiwan visit, Huang said Nvidia had doubled its capacity for the second half of this year because demand remained strong. He said Taiwan plays a key role in what he called a new computer revolution and would be central to rising demand for computing power over the next few years.
CNA reported that Huang said Nvidia has 120 supply chain partners in Taiwan. He said the company’s Grace Blackwell AI chips, used in advanced computing systems, are still in mass production, while its newer Vera Rubin AI platform is also beginning production.
Huang said his visit to South Korea is intended to thank Nvidia’s partners. Asked about high-bandwidth memory supply, Huang said the supply chain was under heavy pressure. He said demand was growing too fast and suppliers had limited capacity.
Huang said Nvidia’s artificial intelligence systems are closely connected with memory products. He said Nvidia is not only a chip designer, but also one of the world’s largest direct buyers of memory.
Huang arrived in Taiwan on May 23 and drew large crowds during his visit. Before leaving, he joked that Taiwan, its restaurants, and its night markets all needed a rest after his stay.
