TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Nvidia Corporation CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) held talks with prominent South Korean business leaders while in Taiwan for Computex, reports said Wednesday.
The June 2-5 event in Taipei is drawing technology pioneers and company executives from around the world. On Monday, Huang met with Chey Tae-won, the chair of SK Group, the parent company of semiconductor maker SK Hynix, per CNA.
The two business leaders reportedly exchanged views on the possibility of deepening cooperation in the field of AI semiconductors. SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung was also present at a banquet with Huang and Chey in Taipei, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.
The meeting comes at a historic time as the market value of SK Hynix reached NT$32.5 trillion (US$1 trillion), the report said. Huang reportedly cited robot technology as a worthwhile sector for investment in South Korea.
The Nvidia founder is expected to leave Taiwan on Thursday evening and travel to Seoul. His schedule for Friday includes meetings with LG Group Chair Koo Kwang-mo and Naver founder Lee Hae-jin.
Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun also wanted to meet Huang, while game developer NC Corp. founder Kim Taek-jin is scheduled for talks on June 7, per CNA.
The links between robot technology and AI are likely to be the focus of the Nvidia founder’s discussions with South Korean technology leaders. On Wednesday, Huang still visited Computex, viewing exhibits at the stands of Foxconn Technology, Pegatron, and Delta Electronics, leaving his signature on products, and sharing red-bean cakes with reporters and visitors.
