TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Advanced Wireless Semiconductor Co. said it expects stronger growth momentum this year, driven by rising demand for next-generation wireless technologies and expanding applications beyond its core business.
The gallium arsenide wafer foundry reported cumulative revenue of NT$2.1 billion (US$67.2 million) for the first five months of the year. The figure represents a 51.49% increase compared with the same period last year, according to CTEE.
AWSC said it remains optimistic about its outlook, citing a dual-growth strategy centered on 5G and Wi-Fi 7 technologies. The company also expects growing contributions from emerging businesses.
It said new applications, including drone connectivity products, advanced sensing technologies, and solar energy products, are gradually contributing to revenue. Second-quarter results are expected to surpass those of the first quarter, with full-year profitability projected to increase significantly.
In its core wireless segment, AWSC said its 5G-related products, including integrated power amplifiers, filters, and antenna switch modules, have made progress in areas previously dominated by US suppliers. The company also highlighted ongoing industry upgrades as wireless networks transition to Wi-Fi 7, which it expects to become a key driver of demand for power amplification components in the coming years.
In its emerging businesses, AWSC said it continues to expand into high-speed optical communication components and solar power solutions for high-altitude platform applications. Although these non-core segments currently account for a low-single-digit share of revenue, the company expects their contribution to gradually increase alongside demand from AI servers, drones, and robotics.
AWSC’s core business focuses on gallium arsenide power amplifier wafer foundry services. Gallium arsenide, a compound semiconductor, is widely used in radio frequency applications due to its ability to operate at higher frequencies and power levels than silicon, according to Da Labs.
