TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwanese leaving the Czech Republic can use e-Gates at Vaclav Havel Airport Prague, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.
The Czech authorities launched the measure on May 15, per CNA. Nationals of Japan, South Korea, and the UK leaving Prague for destinations outside the Schengen Zone benefit from the same change.
However, at present, it is not yet possible for Taiwanese travelers to use e-Gates when arriving in Prague. The airport still needed to adjust its e-Gate system to the new EU entry and exit system before deciding on its use for visitors from Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The country had been considered for the e-Gate system because of the positive record of Taiwanese visiting the Czech Republic. The ministry advised travelers to consult the official websites of European countries to stay abreast of the latest rules. With the summer season about to begin, travelers should also set aside enough time to clear immigration or transit through a European airport.
