TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Starlux Airlines on Monday celebrated the launch of its inaugural route to Busan, South Korea, marking an expansion of the carrier’s Northeast Asia network.
The airline held a departure event at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 1, Gate B3, featuring Fubon Angels cheerleaders as route ambassadors. The gate area was decorated with imagery inspired by Busan’s harbor scenery, per UDN.
Starlux will operate daily flights between Taipei and Busan, along with three weekly flights between Taichung and Busan.
Two Korean members of the Fubon Angels participated in the launch event, sharing their experiences and favorite attractions in Busan. Korean cheerleader Lee Ho-zeong said serving as an ambassador for the inaugural flight was an unforgettable birthday gift and praised the kindness of the Taiwanese.
Fellow Fubon Angels member Nam Min-jeong recommended popular Busan destinations, including Haeundae Beach and Gwangalli Beach, as well as the city’s well-known pork and rice soup dishes.
Starlux Chief Strategy Officer Simon Liu (劉允富) said the Busan route further strengthens the airline’s presence in the Northeast Asian market and provides more convenient travel options for passengers across Taiwan, per UDN.
To mark the route launch, Starlux partnered with several brands to provide commemorative gifts for inaugural passengers, including folding coat hangers from the Korea Tourism Organization, four-day unlimited-data DJB Korea eSIM cards, and Starlux-branded Link Monster iCASH cards.
The airline currently operates flights to 32 cities across 41 routes in Asia and North America.
Starlux also announced plans to launch its first European destination, Prague, in August, marking the carrier’s entry into the European market. A new route to Bali is scheduled to begin in October as the airline continues expanding its international network.
