TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil said Friday he will arrive in Taiwan on Monday at the head of a 40-member delegation.
His previous trip to Taiwan was in August 2020, per CNA. He mentioned the launch of direct flights by China Airlines between Prague and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in July 2023 as one of the best developments since.
The direct connection has led to an increase in academic, cultural, and economic cooperation, he said. Supply chain research, semiconductor technology collaboration, student exchange projects, and research centers all received a boost from closer relations, according to Vystrcil.
He told CNA the main aim of the visit is to strengthen mutual support between the two democracies. The four-day visit will boost political exchanges and interactions between the people of Taiwan and the Czech Republic, he said.
Vystrcil noted that the visit comes on the 90th anniversary of the birth of Vaclav Havel, the human rights activist during communist rule who later served as the last president of Czechoslovakia and the first president of the Czech Republic.
