TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Representative to Israel Li Ya-ping (李雅萍) on Wednesday praised Taiwan’s democratic resilience and technological strengths at an international forum in Jerusalem.
Li spoke at the 10th anniversary of Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast, an event promoted by the Israeli parliament and Christian organizations, per CNA. The gathering brought together religious leaders and public affairs figures to discuss democracy, freedom, and regional peace.
According to Taiwan’s representative office in Israel, Li said Taiwan has faced natural disasters, military threats, and diplomatic isolation while continuing to defend democracy and freedom. She added that Taiwan has also developed into a major global hub for semiconductors and high-tech industries.
She noted that Taiwan and Israel both face complex geopolitical and security challenges while demonstrating resilience. Taiwan, she said, has also remained active in humanitarian assistance, including aid during the COVID-19 pandemic and support for global development projects.
On economic development, Li said Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and broader technology supply chain are playing an essential role in the growth of artificial intelligence. She said Taiwan will continue building resilient and complementary partnerships with like-minded countries.
