For the month, the index gained 5,806.31 points, marking its strongest May on record. The rally was fueled by global AI capital spending, Computex-related momentum, steady foreign inflows, and easing geopolitical concerns, according to Yahoo Stocks.
TSMC hit a record intraday high of NT$2,375. The chipmaker closed up 2.61% at NT$2,355, contributing about 477 points to the TAIEX’s gain
Foxconn hit its limit-up at NT$289, a 19-year high. The company signaled expectations of double-digit growth in artificial intelligence infrastructure spending this year, according to CNA.
Delta Electronics rose 2.3% to NT$2,445. MediaTek fell 2.27% to NT$4,310.

AI-related stocks recorded broad gains after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) met with supply-chain executives on Thursday evening. Quanta Computer, Wistron, Wiwynn, Inventec, Acer and Asustek Computer hit limit-ups, according to CNA.
Display panel makers also gained. Innolux and HannStar Display closed at limit-up levels, while AUO rose 8.49%.
Market attention centered on fan-out panel-level semiconductor packaging technology, which extends chip packaging into panel-based production. FOPLP has gained attention for using square substrates instead of circular wafers, which increases usable area and improves production efficiency, according to the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association.
Memory-related stocks also showed strength. Winbond Electronics, PSMC and Unifosa reached limit-ups, while Nanya Technology, Phison Electronics, Macronix, Adata Technology, Apacer Technology, Transcend Information and Team Group also posted gains.
Shinkong Synthetic Fibers extended its advance as it moves further into the AI and semiconductor supply chain. The polyester producer hit limit-up for a second consecutive session and has gained for seven straight trading days, accumulating a 37% rise over the period.
GlobalWafers climbed above NT$1,000, closing at its limit-up of NT$1,015. Chair Doris Hsu (徐秀蘭) said wafer demand is showing signs of recovery, supported by AI-related orders and a gradual rebound in automotive, industrial and energy markets, according to CTEE.
For the month, passive component manufacturers were the strongest performers on the Taiwan market, accounting for seven of the top 20 gainers. The sector was supported by expectations of tighter supply and rising demand from global AI data center expansion, according to Yahoo Stocks.
Holy Stone Enterprise recorded the largest monthly gain at 201.65%. Walsin Technology, Apaq Technology, Nichidenbo and Yageo also posted gains of more than 130%.
Analyst Liao Chih-hung (廖繼弘) said valuation concerns and inflation risks remain, but sector rotation and stock-specific momentum continue to support the market. He said the index could test 46,000 in June.
He added that leadership has rotated across sectors including memory chips, low-Earth-orbit satellites, advanced substrates, printed circuit boards, cooling, equipment and packaging. Renewed strength has also been seen in power semiconductors and satellite-related stocks.
Analyst Tsai Ming-han (蔡明翰) said AI fundamentals are increasingly driving market direction, creating a clear divide between outperforming AI-linked stocks and weaker non-AI sectors. He expects that pattern to persist in the near term, supporting continued volatility with an upward bias.
