TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Hsinchu City Government said Thursday that renovations at Hsinchu Baseball Stadium are expected to be completed in mid-August.
Hsinchu Baseball Stadium officials said waste material buried beneath the field has been removed, per CNA. Installation of the permeable layer will begin soon, while artificial turf is scheduled for completion by the end of July.
Hsinchu Public Works Department Director Chen Ming-cheng (陳明錚) said the stadium will also undergo international certification before reopening, per UDN.
Hsinchu Deputy Mayor Lin Kun-han (林琨瀚) said the city plans to hold high-intensity live stress-test games after construction is completed. Feedback from players will also be used to determine whether the stadium is safe for use.
Hsinchu Education Department Director Lin Li-sheng (林立生) said the city hopes the stadium will host international tournaments, local games, and concerts. Authorities will continue monitoring the final stages of construction closely.
The stadium has remained closed following controversy over player injuries, buried waste, and construction quality problems.
