TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — More than half of Tesla owners in Taiwan have installed home charging systems, Tesla Taiwan said Thursday.
Tesla Taiwan said more than 39,000 Wall Connectors had been installed among nearly 78,000 registered vehicles in Taiwan as of March, per CNA. This means about one in every two owners charges primarily at home.
Tesla Taiwan said lower ownership and maintenance costs compared with gasoline-powered vehicles, along with environmental and performance advantages, continue to drive EV adoption in Taiwan. Rising global oil prices have also helped boost EV sales across brands, it added.
The company said it has built 115 Supercharger stations across Taiwan, capable of adding more than 300 kilometers of range in about 15 minutes, per Carture. It has also installed more than 1,200 destination chargers at shopping malls, parking facilities, and other public locations.
Including third-party operators, Taiwan now has more than 3,700 public EV charging stations, surpassing the number of gas stations nationwide, according to Tesla Taiwan.
To support wider adoption, Tesla Taiwan said it has expanded its EV-friendly community program. It works with certified installers to help apartment buildings and communities set up charging systems.
