TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — MediaTek President Chen Kuan-chou (陳冠州) said Wednesday that the company will enter the agentic AI device market, which he expects will define the next wave of AI development.
Speaking at a Computex pre-show forum, Chen said MediaTek is positioned across cloud and edge computing, per UDN. He added that the company is shifting alongside the industry as AI moves from generative systems toward agentic AI applications, per CNA.
He said agentic AI differs from generative AI in that it can execute full tasks rather than only respond to prompts, potentially running multiple models simultaneously and requiring significantly higher on-device computing power.
Chen added that this shift will push devices to deliver faster processing and more efficient AI integration to support real-time execution and complex workflows. He said agentic AI systems will also emphasize real-time responsiveness and continuous learning.
Chen said MediaTek is aligning its technology roadmap with these trends, aiming to enhance personalization while strengthening privacy protections and data security for users.
