TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — New Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Ambassador Kenton Chance presented his credentials to Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) on Tuesday.
The Caribbean island nation is one of Taiwan’s 12 official diplomatic allies. During the meeting, Lin noted that this year marked the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
The foreign minister said that during a visit in 2024, he witnessed how bilateral cooperation projects benefited economic development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. Taiwan will continue to share its experience in smart agriculture, smart healthcare, and sustainable tourism, Lin said.
Chance described Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as a steady and trustworthy ally. At this year’s World Health Assembly, the country spoke out in favor of Taiwan, and it will continue to do so at other international events as well, the new ambassador said.
Chance studied in Taiwan and speaks fluent Mandarin, the ministry said. After returning to his country, he spent years working in media and broadcasting.
