TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) attended an employee event on Wednesday celebrating the launch of the company’s Taiwan headquarters project at the Beitou Shilin Technology Park, per UDN.
Around 1,000 employees gathered at the T17 and T18 plots within the technology park, where Nvidia plans to complete construction of its Taiwan headquarters and move operations into the facility by 2030.
Huang greeted employees in his characteristic approachable style, handing out lotion as gifts and surprising recently married employees with bottles of Dom Perignon champagne.
One employee who had recently returned from a honeymoon in Budapest prompted Huang to recall his own trip there with his wife, Lori Huang. He jokingly remarked that the employee must be very wealthy.

Another newlywed employee said her husband worked at MediaTek, drawing laughter from the crowd when Huang replied, “Why didn’t you ask an Nvidia employee?”
The event marked the first time Nvidia Taiwan employees gathered at the future headquarters site. Huang’s wife Lori, along with his parents, also attended the event. During his speech, Huang made a point of speaking in Taiwanese and said he hopes to speak more Mandarin whenever he returns to Taiwan.
Huang also unveiled the design concept for Nvidia’s future Taiwan headquarters, describing it as a transparent building intended to symbolize trust and openness. “We must become a transparent company so that everyone can trust and rely on us,” Huang said, per CNA.
He said the facility will not have elevators and will feature extensive glass curtain walls, similar to the next-generation building planned for Nvidia’s US headquarters. Construction on both sites is expected to begin simultaneously at the end of 2026.
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) also attended the event. After arriving, Huang thanked Chiang for helping Nvidia secure the headquarters site.
Employees were also shown a video presentation highlighting major developments in artificial intelligence over recent months, including the evolution from AI training to inference, agent-based AI, and future physical AI technologies.
The presentation also referenced ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and included footage of recent meetings between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, underscoring rapid changes in the AI industry amid intensifying technological and geopolitical competition.
