TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — MediaTek said Tuesday it is deepening cooperation with E Ink to develop AI-enabled color e-readers and education devices.
The chip designer said its MT8115 and MT8126 system-on-chip platforms are designed for AI-powered e-readers and support both E Ink Gallery and Kaleido color e-paper platforms, per CNA.
The chips include an in-house neural processing unit enabling on-device AI applications such as multi-speaker voice recognition, summarization, and real-time translation in more than 20 languages.
On the display side, the chips use oxide thin-film transistor technology with 7-level high-voltage driving to accelerate e-paper particle movement, improving refresh speed and display clarity.
The solution supports high-resolution e-paper panels up to 13.3 inches, delivering a smoother reading experience than conventional e-paper devices. It will be demonstrated at Computex in Taipei next week.
