TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Electronics contract manufacturer Kinpo Group (金寶) held its annual shareholders’ meeting on Monday, outlining its future business plans and expanding role in the global technology supply chain.
Kinpo General Manager Chen Wei-chang (陳威昌) announced the company is manufacturing game consoles for a US startup. The contract includes handling the complete design and production process from the ground up, which Chen described as a significant milestone for the company, per CNA.
Chen said Kinpo secured the project because of its accumulated technological expertise across multiple sectors, including communications modules required for the consoles.
Addressing rising prices for components such as memory and CPUs, Chen said Kinpo’s current business model allows most material cost increases to be absorbed by customers. As a result, shortages and higher component prices have had only a limited impact on the company’s profitability.
Chen also said Kinpo is leveraging its experience in network communications and ground receiving stations to develop satellite base stations and user terminals capable of supporting high, medium, and low Earth orbit systems. He said he was optimistic about demand in Taiwan and neighboring Southeast Asian markets.
Asked about the possibility of further cooperation with Nvidia following CEO Jensen Huang’s recent visit to Taiwan, Chen said, “AI servers are a must,” adding that “NVIDIA values Taiwan’s supply chain.”
“Every company wants to be a part of it, and our expectations are the same,” Chen said.

Regarding Kinpo’s server business, Chen said the company is gradually shifting from motherboard and 4U server production to rack-mount systems. Rack production is expected to begin in Thailand during the second half of this year, per CNA.
On production capacity, Chen said Kinpo’s Plant 13 in Thailand is preparing new products, while Plants 14 and 15 are already operational. Plant 16 is expected to reach full production capacity this quarter.
Chen added that Kinpo’s Philippine plant has begun incorporating industrial design products from other clients alongside its existing consumer electronics and computer operations.
Kinpo’s San Diego plant is operating at full capacity and has secured additional space to expand production when needed. Other production bases in Mexico, Brazil, and China continue operating while adjusting production according to product characteristics to maximize capacity utilization.
Kinpo has also invested in quantum computing company Seeqc, laying the groundwork for future development in the sector. Kinpo Group Chair Hsu Chieh-li (許介立) said quantum computing technology remains in an early stage of development, with several mainstream technological approaches still competing for dominance.
Hsu said that besides cooperating with subsidiary Seeqc, Kinpo would continue exploring additional opportunities in the field. He added that if worthwhile investment opportunities emerge, the company may seek to co-invest with partners and participate in broader research and development efforts.
