TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Materials analysis company MA-tek will spend about NT$700 million (about US$22.2 million) to upgrade seven laboratories in northern and southern Taiwan, part of a new round of investments approved under the government’s Taiwan investment programs.
The plan covers labs in Hsinchu County, Hsinchu City, and Tainan, where the company will add advanced testing equipment and create 208 jobs, per NOWnews.
MA-tek provides materials, failure, and reliability analysis for clients in the semiconductor, display, optoelectronics, packaging and testing, and nano-device industries. The company operates 16 testing and analysis labs worldwide and serves more than 8,500 clients, according to the report.
Its latest Taiwan expansion follows earlier applications under the Rooted in Taiwan program at the opening of the decade. The new spending will focus on AI-supported testing, automated report generation, data analysis for management decisions, and production line automation, per the report.
The company also plans to review equipment and workflows to improve energy efficiency and build a greenhouse gas inventory system.
The approvals also included A-Mei Mattress, a Taichung-based mattress maker with nearly two decades of contract manufacturing experience. The company plans to spend about NT$610 million on a new factory in Shalu District, Taichung.
A-Mei’s factory will use AI visual recognition, robotics, and big data tools to link warehousing, manufacturing, and logistics, while solar panels will help to cut emissions.
