TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Nvidia Corporation CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) arrived in Taipei Saturday to address an AI developers’ meeting in the Nangang District.
His arrival at the city’s Songshan Airport Saturday afternoon was unexpected because it came more than a week before the opening of the June 2-6 Computex technology fair, per UDN. After greeting fans at the airport, he headed to Nangang to address a Meet-a-Claw AI developers’ event.
One of the main parts of his visit will be the June 1-4 Nvidia GTC Week, a conference designed to show the latest developments in AI to researchers, developers, and technology experts. Huang is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the event on June 1. In a post on the company’s X account showing Saturday’s appearance, he added that the GTC Week could be considered to have officially started.
Media earlier speculated that construction work on the company’s Taiwan headquarters in Taipei might start next week. Now that Huang had arrived, he might appear at a groundbreaking ceremony for the complex at the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park likely to occur on May 27, according to UDN.
The AI tycoon was also expected to host a luncheon or dinner for Taiwan’s technology leaders involved in Nvidia’s supply chain, a feature of several of his previous visits. Guests at a meeting expected for May 28 included Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Chair C.C. Wei (魏哲家), Foxconn Technology Chair Young Liu (劉揚偉), MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai (蔡力行), and Delta Electronics Chair Cheng Ping (鄭平), per UDN.
