TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Civil Aviation Administration fined Tigerair Taiwan NT$150,000 (US$4,700) for allowing a passenger for Tokyo to board a flight to Osaka, reports said Saturday.
In December, a passenger with a ticket for flight IT280 from Kaohsiung to Tokyo’s Narita Airport boarded flight IT284 to Osaka, per CNA. Staff realized their mistake before the flight took off and accompanied the passenger off the plane.
Tigerair Taiwan reported the incident voluntarily to the CAA. In addition to paying the fine, the airline also needed to submit a report about how it planned to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.
The CAA also investigated Tigerair Taiwan for an August 2025 incident when a pilot failed to follow instructions. He flew the plane, flight IT234 from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to Sapporo, at the wrong altitude. The CAA demanded the company strengthen its discipline, training, and human resources management, CNA reported.
Responding to both incidents, Tigerair Taiwan said it accepted the CAA measures and had made the necessary improvements. The safety of passengers would continue to be its main concern, the airline said.
