TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Tourism Exposition opened on Friday, with Belize and Guatemala joining Taiwan’s Central America Trade Office to launch a joint pavilion promoting tourism to the region.
The Central America Pavilion features travel agencies offering consultations, allowing visitors to plan group tours and customized itineraries, per CNA. The opening ceremony was attended by Guatemalan Ambassador Luis Raul Estevez Lopez, Belize Ambassador Katherine Vanessa Meighan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Baushuan Ger (葛葆萱), and others.
Central America Trade Office Executive Director Chan Chao-fu (詹朝富) said the pavilion is designed to make travel planning easier and more accessible. He said participating agencies can advise visitors, helping them understand travel options across Central America.
Chan noted that Belize is known for the Great Blue Hole and its marine ecosystems, offering diving and island vacation experiences. Guatemala features volcano landscapes, Mayan archaeological sites, and traditional markets, he added.
The pavilion also includes interactive activities, including a social media-based dice game that offers prizes for visitors who follow the trade office’s accounts. Traditional dance performances are scheduled throughout the exhibition, featuring music and costumes inspired by Central American culture.
The event will last from Friday to Monday at the Taipei World Trade Center.
