TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Lotus flowers are in bloom in Zhushan Township, Nantou County, as local officials promote the area as a summer travel spot, CNA reported Friday.
Liberty Times reported that Zhushan Township Mayor Chen Tung-mu (陳東睦) said the pond covers nearly 6,000 square meters. He said the best times to visit are early morning and near sunset.
Chen said the flowers are entering their peak blooming period. He welcomed visitors from across the country to see the flowers while they are at their best.
The mayor also asked visitors to help protect the site. He said people should not enter the flower beds, pick flowers, break plants, or step on lotus leaves.
Zhushan International Tea Ceremony Festival will be held from Saturday to May 31 at Zinan Temple parking lot. The event will feature about 50 vendors, including local tea sellers, high-mountain tea brands, and young entrepreneurs who have returned to Zhushan.
The festival will also include tea ceremony exchanges with teachers from South Korea and Japan. Chen said visitors can plan a short trip by seeing the lotus flowers during the day, tasting tea in the afternoon, and walking through Zhushan’s streets in the evening.
