TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan opened its vocational education fair at Kun Shan University on Thursday to help junior high school students learn about career paths through hands-on activities.
The city government said the fair includes career exhibits, practical workshops, and interactive games. Organizers said the activities are meant to help students better understand vocational education and what different industries involve.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said fast-growing technologies such as artificial intelligence, robots, and drones have made practical skills more important. He said vocational education can help students use technology in daily life and support the city’s development.
The city’s Education Bureau said the fair has been held since 2015 and is now in its 12th year. It said total attendance is expected to exceed 32,000 this year.
This year’s fair covers many fields, including nursing, design, arts, food, agriculture, foreign languages, business, construction, chemicals, electronics, machinery, and hospitality. Students can try simple tasks and see how different skills are used in real workplaces.
The bureau said the fair can help students think about future school choices and career plans. It also encouraged students to explore their interests and strengths before choosing a study path.
