TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang (江啟臣) on Wednesday called for closer Taiwan-Poland cooperation during a banquet for Rafal Komarewicz, chair of the Polish Parliament’s Economic Committee.
Chiang noted that economic and technological cooperation between Taiwan and Poland has grown steadily in recent years, a sign of complementary industries, according to the Legislative Yuan. He described Poland as a key economic gateway to Europe with significant market potential and said Taiwan could serve as an important hub in Asia.
Chiang said he was optimistic that parliamentary exchanges would continue to deepen and inject new momentum into bilateral cooperation. He also thanked Poland for its long-standing support for Taiwan.
He emphasized that although Taiwan and Poland are geographically distant, their friendship remains close.
Komarewicz said Taiwan and Poland share core values such as democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. He expressed hope that Chiang would lead a delegation to Poland in the future.
Michal Jaros, the Polish economic ministry secretary of state, visited the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center in Chiayi County on Monday. The visit was intended to better understand the achievements of Taiwanese drone manufacturers.
Late last month, Taiwan envoy to Poland Liu Yung-chien (劉永健) said Poland is a natural gateway for Taiwanese firms into the European market. Recent agreements in technology-intensive fields mean both countries can build a resilient and competitive technological future, Liu said.
