TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su (蘇姿丰) arrived at Taipei Songshan Airport on Wednesday afternoon aboard a private jet for a brief visit to Taiwan.
With Computex Taipei scheduled to open on June 2, many technology executives, particularly those involved in the semiconductor and AI industries, are expected to arrive in Taiwan in the coming days, per CNA.
Su traveled to Taipei shortly after attending AMD’s AI Development Day event in Shanghai. After exiting the airport, she waved briefly to local media before departing by car without giving interviews.
According to reports, Su is expected to spend Thursday attending a full day of closed-door meetings at a Taipei hotel, with no public appearances scheduled. She is also expected to attend CommonWealth Magazine’s 45th anniversary forum, titled “AI Everywhere, Partnering Together,” at the Taipei Marriott Hotel on Friday morning.
At the forum, Su is expected to participate in a discussion with media executives on AI strategies, technological transformation, and computing power amid the rapid expansion of AI. She is also expected to discuss AMD’s role within Taiwan’s information technology ecosystem.
Speaking earlier at AMD’s AI Development Day in Shanghai, Su said artificial intelligence is entering what she described as the “agent era,” in which AI systems can autonomously analyze problems, use tools, and verify results, per CNA.
Su said increasingly complex AI tasks will require more powerful central processing units and projected that 5 billion people could be using AI daily within the next five years.
