TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Inventec said Wednesday its partnership with NXP Semiconductors has entered a new phase focused on zonal control architecture.
Zonal architecture divides a vehicle into functional zones, allowing components to be wired locally and connected through controllers to a central computing “brain,” per CNA. This reduces wiring complexity while allowing software-based upgrades.
Inventec said its partnership with NXP, launched in 2024, has delivered progress in automotive cybersecurity and spatial sensing technologies, per UDN. The two companies are now focusing on vehicle architecture as the core of next-generation electric vehicles.
In March, the companies completed a joint lab project based on NXP’s CoreRide Z248 zonal reference system. The platform supports 48V power distribution and centralized data transmission. It helps simplify vehicle wiring and shorten development cycles for automakers.
In May, Inventec held a showcase featuring NXP’s S32K5 microcontroller family. The chip serves as the core computing unit for the Z248 system and enables hardware-level isolation of multiple in-vehicle functions within a single controller.
Inventec reported NT$200.31 billion (US$6.33 billion) in revenue in Q1, up 17% quarter-on-quarter and 28% year-on-year, per Liberty Times. Gross margin was 5.1%, down 0.1 percentage point quarter-on-quarter and 0.9 percentage points year-on-year.
