TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tatung showcased its AI infrastructure solutions at the IEEE PES T&D Conference & Exposition in Chicago, aiming to tap rising US demand for AI data centers and upgrades to power infrastructure, CNA reported.
The four-day event, which ran through May 7, served as a global gathering for the electric power and energy sectors. More than 900 exhibitors showcased technologies, including energy storage systems, grid resiliency and modernization, as well as renewable energy integration.
Tatung plans to expand its presence in the North American power infrastructure market. The company said it had secured an order for large power transformers for a renewable energy project in the US, with delivery expected next year.
Growing US investment in renewable energy and AI data centers is driving demand for power infrastructure equipment, Tatung noted. The company added it has developed small- and medium-sized power transformers, which have production lead times of up to six months, shorter than those for larger units.
At the event, Tatung showcased pad-mounted transformers and pole-type transformers that can be used in AI data centers, renewable energy facilities, and power infrastructure projects. As electricity demand from AI data centers rises significantly, a stable power supply will be key to the development of AI infrastructure, the company said.
Tatung said it also secured new orders from US AI data center and renewable energy suppliers through the expo. The orders mainly focus on medium- and small-sized power transformers, which are expected to boost revenue and shorten delivery timelines.
Tatung said its factory in Taoyuan’s Guanyin District primarily manufactures power and distribution transformers. The company said the facility has supplied overseas orders and equipment for some of Taipower’s power plants.
Tatung holds a 20% stake in Voltamp Energy SAOG in Oman, which primarily sells power and distribution transformers. The company said it acquired the stake in exchange for technology contributions, aiming to expand its presence in the Middle East.
