TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Michal Jaros, the Polish economic ministry secretary of state, visited the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center in Chiayi County on Monday.
The visit was intended to better understand the achievements of Taiwanese drone manufacturers, according to the Chiayi County Government. Jaros and his delegation held exchanges with Taiwanese drone companies, including 7A Drones, Taiwan UAV, Taiwan Drone 100, KunWay Technology, Thunder Tiger Group, and Coretronic Intelligent Robotics Corporation.
Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang (翁章梁) welcomed Jaros, noting that Poland holds a strategic position in Europe and has played a major role in regional drone development, defense technology, and supply chain resilience.
Well-funded large corporations dominate Poland’s drone industry, he said. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s drone industry mainly consists of small and medium-sized enterprises, though major corporate groups have also begun investing in the sector in recent years, Weng said.
Taiwan possesses strengths in information and communications technology, optics, and semiconductor chips, he said. With policy support and expanded international market exchanges, Taiwan can play an even more influential role in the global drone industry, he added.
Taiwan’s drone exports reached NT$3.65 billion (US$115 million) in the first quarter, exceeding last year’s NT$2.94 billion, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said last month. Poland, the Czech Republic, and the US were the top export markets.
