TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — KMT Central Committee member Lee Te-wei (李德維) clarified Monday that investigation findings into potential financial malpractice by former Ma Ying-jeou Foundation officials will not be released on Thursday.
Lee leads a three-member panel investigating allegations against former foundation officials Hsiao Hsu-tsen (蕭旭岑) and Wang Kuang-tzu (王光慈). The foundation said Monday that former President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) called Lee on May 11 to inquire about the panel's progress, per NOWNews.
The foundation claimed Lee promised the team would attend Thursday’s board meeting and present its results.
However, Lee denied the foundation’s account, per UP Media. He said that after discovering no board members had agreed to attend, he doubted the foundation’s credibility and nearly lost his willingness to participate on Thursday.
Lee said that because the panel still has work left to do, it is unlikely to present its findings on Thursday, per Liberty Times. He added that the panel has a consensus to report its findings only after the investigation finishes.
