TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan, the US, and Belize co-hosted a workshop this week focused on strengthening cybersecurity resilience and addressing digital threats.
The event, titled Global Cooperation and Training Framework: Cybersecurity in the Age of AI, was held in Belize City on Wednesday, per CNA. Discussions centered on AI-related cybersecurity risks and the use of AI tools to help build secure digital environments.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Taiwan’s ambassador to Belize, Chi Chih-chiang (紀欽耀), US Charge d’Affaires in Belize Katharine Beamer, and Belize Minister of State for Economic Transformation Osmond Martinez.
Chi warned that cyberattack methods are growing more complex as AI develops rapidly. He said Taiwan would continue working with the US and other like-minded partners to promote a secure, open, and resilient digital environment.
The foreign ministry said about 150 participants attended the workshop, including cybersecurity experts from Taiwan, Belizean officials, and industry representatives. Discussions focused on protecting networks and critical infrastructure from cyber threats.
The ministry said the event has become an important platform for international cooperation and capacity building since its launch in 2015, with Taiwan continuing to support cybersecurity and digital governance initiatives in Central and South America.
