TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Thunder Tiger said Wednesday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with US defense technology firm Shield AI to integrate autonomy software into its unmanned systems.
Thunder Tiger said the deal will incorporate Shield AI’s Hivemind autonomy software as the core AI system for the Sea Shark platform, per CNA. Both companies will conduct integration and testing, hardware-in-the-loop validation, and live sea trials, per Liberty Times.
Shield AI President and co-founder Brandon Tseng said the system has already been tested across multiple platforms and environments. He said deploying it in Taiwan will enable coordination of unmanned systems and strengthen capabilities in high-threat scenarios.
Tseng added that the collaboration is intended to support Taiwan’s development of asymmetric defense capabilities by enhancing autonomous operations for the military.
Thunder Tiger General Manager Su Sheng-chieh (蘇聖傑) said Hivemind will improve its platform’s autonomous decision-making capabilities. He added that the partnership will help strengthen Taiwan’s defense capabilities.
