TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A special exhibition on engineering aesthetics opened Tuesday at the Danjiang Bridge management center to coincide with the bridge’s opening to traffic.
The exhibition explores the engineering and construction challenges behind Taiwan’s newest landmark through images, models, visual displays, and interactive installations that allow visitors to experience the bridge’s design firsthand. Admission is free, though reservations are encouraged because of limited exhibition space, per a press release.
The exhibit highlights the engineering story behind the bridge, which was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and took 30 years to complete. Among the featured displays are iterative models of the bridge’s 12 tower designs created by the Zaha Hadid Architects team, marking their first public exhibition.
Interactive installations also allow visitors to explore aspects of bridge engineering and design. The exhibition additionally features ecological conservation records from the construction process, documentary footage of the bridge’s development, and tributes to engineering teams involved in the project, per the press release.
The exhibition is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Aug. 12. The Highway Bureau said entry will use both advance reservations and walk-in admission. Each session lasts 50 minutes, with 80 tickets available through online reservations and 40 tickets available for on-site queuing. Tickets can be reserved online through Accupass.
