TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Presidential adviser Lin Kai-min (林凱民) on Tuesday proposed a cross-continental supply chain blueprint during a visit to Finland, outlining a model that links research and manufacturing.
Lin, leading a Taiwanese business delegation touring Europe, said northern Europe has strengths in research and design, per CNA. Asia and Africa offer manufacturing advantages and North America remains the world’s largest consumer market, he added.
The delegation also visited Taiwan’s representative office in Helsinki, where Representative Freddy Lim (林昶佐) said Taiwan-Finland exchanges have become more active. He identified quantum computing and drones as key areas for cooperation.
Lim said bilateral engagement accelerated following a Finnish parliamentary delegation’s visit to Taiwan in March. He added that Taiwan should coordinate with Finland on quantum computing applications so its downstream supply chain is prepared.
The delegation included representatives from Taiwanese business associations in North America, Africa, and Turkey. The group began its European tour in Sweden and will continue to the Netherlands and Belgium to meet Taiwanese business groups and representative offices.
The visit also coincided with the formal establishment of the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Finland in Helsinki. The organization will focus on industrial cooperation in AI, 6G, and digital health technologies.
