TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn confirmed Tuesday that some of its North American facilities were targeted in a cyberattack.
The company said its cybersecurity team activated emergency responses and contingency measures to maintain production, per CNA. Foxconn did not disclose how many facilities were affected or the scale.
According to FTVNews, Foxconn’s facility in Wisconsin experienced a major IT system outage that disrupted some production lines. The ransomware group Nitrogen Ransomware later claimed responsibility on the dark web, alleging it had obtained up to 8 TB of company data and more than 11 million internal files.
The hackers claimed the leaked information included sensitive technical documents involving global technology companies such as Apple, Intel, and Google, per Wired.
Foxconn said affected facilities are in the process of resuming normal production, per Liberty Times. The company did not comment on whether any data had been compromised or whether ransom demands had been made.
Foxconn has expanded manufacturing operations in Wisconsin since announcing its investment project there in 2017. The company later shifted focus from LCD panel production toward advanced server manufacturing and AI infrastructure development.
