TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Several Taiwan equity funds have delivered returns of more than 100% so far this year, CTEE reported Monday, as a strong rally in domestic stocks continues to drive performance across actively managed funds.
Taiwan’s benchmark index has recently been trading above the 41,000-point level and is up more than 40% year to date. The sustained rally has supported domestic equity funds, with some significantly outperforming the broader market.
Among fund categories, general equity funds led performance. They were followed by small- and mid-cap funds, technology-focused strategies, and over-the-counter market funds.
Data compiled through May 6 shows multiple funds have more than doubled in value. The Yuanta Mainstream Equity Fund rose 116.29% over the period, driven largely by holdings in listed electronics components and semiconductor-related companies, according to MoneyDJ.
The Schroders Taiwan Small and Mid Cap Equity Fund gained 113.74%. It is followed by Yuanta International Trade Equity Fund at 103.01%, Yuanta Excellence Equity Fund at 102.4%, and the Nomura Asset Management Taiwan Small Cap Fund at 100.12%.
E Sun Asset Management said some investors have become more cautious after significant gains, raising questions about whether entering Taiwan equity funds at current levels may involve higher risk. The firm noted that the key factor for Taiwan equities is not the index level itself, but whether underlying earnings and growth momentum can continue.
It suggested that as long as demand for AI-related technology remains intact, investors may continue to use regular fixed-amount investment strategies. This approach could help them participate in the market over time.
A fund is an investment vehicle that pools capital from multiple investors. Fund managers allocate the pooled assets across a diversified range of instruments, including equities and bonds, according to Anue.
Unlike picking individual stocks, which relies entirely on an investor’s own judgment, stock funds allow investors to entrust capital to managers. Investment decisions aim to achieve returns that outperform the broader market.
