TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei’s dedicated maternal and child hospital will open in late June with new services for mothers, children, and families caring for children with serious health needs.
The Taipei City Hospital project will include family-style birthing rooms, a human milk bank cold-chain delivery program, and a pediatric long-term care facility open to children beyond those placed through social welfare channels, per CNA.
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) marked Mother’s Day on Sunday by saying the hospital was designed around the needs of women, mothers, and children. Chiang said he recently visited the site to check on preparations before the formal opening next month, according to the report.
The hospital’s breast milk service will expand an existing plan by using dedicated cold-chain transport to bring frozen milk to additional locations.
Its pediatric long-term care program will serve children with disabilities or severe illnesses and families needing support after a child’s acute medical crisis, per the report. Taipei City Hospital said the program will also be available to children registered outside Taipei.
The hospital is also planning a women-only “Good Doctor Clinic” staffed by female physicians, though Taipei City Hospital said that service will begin after the opening. The birthing rooms and pediatric long-term care facility are expected to launch when the hospital is inaugurated.
