TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan’s April exports totaled NT$2.12 trillion (US$67.62 billion) even though the season for ICT products was over its peak, the Ministry of Finance said Friday.
The export figure amounted to a 15.7% decline from March, per CNA. Nevertheless, the success of AI, high-power computing, and cloud services helped exports to surge 39% when compared with April 2025, UDN reported.
Prospects for the first half of the year are positive, as global demand for AI-related technology will remain strong. The only concerns on the horizon are the situation in the Middle East and trade measures by the US, the report said.
The amount of exports in April came second only to the figure recorded for March, officials said. As imports rose 29.2% from April last year to NT$1.67 trillion, Taiwan’s trade surplus widened to NT$450.52 billion, an increase of NT$217.93 billion from April 2025.
Even though April’s exports were lower than the figure recorded for March, the latest total still marked the 30th consecutive month of year-on-year increases, Ministry of Finance officials said.
