TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan City Government opened a smart agriculture pavilion at the 2026 Asia Agri-Tech Expo and Forum on Wednesday to showcase local farm technology to buyers from Taiwan and overseas.
CNA reported that the expo opened at the International Convention Center Tainan and will run through Friday. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) visited the pavilion on Wednesday and spoke with companies about the future of the industry.
“Tainan is one of Taiwan’s most important farming centers,” Huang said. He said the city can use its strong technology base to bring smart tools and green energy into agriculture.
Huang said these tools can help farmers grow consistent, high-quality crops as extreme weather becomes more common. He added that Tainan’s smart agriculture model is based on local farming needs and could also be used in overseas markets.
The mayor also said he hoped the Asia Agri-Tech Expo and Forum would continue to be held in Tainan. He said southern Taiwan is the center of Taiwan’s farming industry and has a complete industry cluster.
The city’s agriculture bureau said Tainan has built a smart agriculture system through cooperation among the government, companies, universities, and research groups. It said the city is promoting integrated farm machinery and cold chain logistics to reduce labor pressure and improve product quality.
The city government said the expo gives buyers, industry partners, and the public a chance to see how technology can create new value for agriculture. It said Tainan hopes to turn its farming strengths into wider business opportunities.
The Asia Agri-Tech Expo and Forum is an annual event that brings together companies, buyers, and experts in agriculture technology. The event showcases smart farming tools, farm machinery, cold chain logistics, and other technologies used to improve farming efficiency and product quality.
