TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — E Ink said it will work with partners to showcase e-paper technologies at Computex Taipei, highlighting innovations for use in retail, transportation, and advertising.
The four-day expo, running through June 5 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, is expected to attract about 1,500 exhibitors worldwide. The event will feature dedicated sections showcasing AI computing, robotics, displays, next-generation communications, future mobility, and green energy technologies.
Company Chair Frank Lee (李政昊) said e-paper offers low power consumption, high readability, and easy integration across platforms. He added the technology has transformed from a simple display into a smart, interactive device, widely used in electronic shelf labels, bus stop signs, and advertising billboards, per CNA.
The company said it will partner with Taiwan’s leading display, communications, and optical lens manufacturers to set up a 1,170-square-meter e-paper zone at the expo. The section is expected to offer buyers a one-stop shop for e-paper products.
Lee said the zone will showcase large color e-paper displays for indoor and outdoor advertising billboards. It will also feature color e-paper with dynamic color changes for use in cars and electronic devices.
Key e-paper technologies, including display backplanes, IC design, and power systems, will also be on display, E Ink added.
The company said smart displays are one of the most common interfaces people use to access digital content. It is estimated that demand for such displays will increase as AI technology develops.
E Ink said its e-paper displays consume power mainly during image updates, with minimal energy use when the screen remains unchanged. This makes the technology well-suited for electronic labels and displays that run for long periods without frequent updates.
The company added that its e-paper technology also supports flexible designs for use in wearable devices and curved surfaces.
