TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The foreign ministry announced Tuesday that it will hold a smart medical and health technology expo in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 17-19.
The event will coincide with the World Health Assembly, which runs from May 18-23. Yeh Chih-cheng (葉至誠), director-general of the foreign ministry’s Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, said at a press conference that the Taiwan External Trade Development Council organized the expo at the ministry’s request.
Yeh said the event aims to boost the international visibility of Taiwan’s smart medical capabilities and its achievements in medical diplomacy and foreign aid.
Thirty Taiwanese medical institutions, smart medical equipment manufacturers, and pharmaceutical companies will participate, Yeh said. There will be a Taiwan pavilion divided into an “Innovative Medical Institutions Zone,” “Smart Medical Zone,” and “Resilient Medical Zone.”
A dedicated TaiwanICDF Foreign Aid Zone will showcase public health and humanitarian aid achievements in allied and partner nations.
The health ministry and TaiwanICDF will also host four professional public health forums at the venue from May 18-19, according to Yeh. To maximize outreach, promotional videos for the expo will be broadcast continuously across 24 locations at Geneva Airport from May 14-18, he said.
