TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan universities promoted study programs and scholarships in Melbourne on Saturday as Australia hosted its first Taiwan Education Expo.
Eight universities took part in the event at the University of Melbourne, where visitors received information on degree programs, research opportunities, short courses, Mandarin study, and scholarship options, per CNA.
The schools represented Taiwan from north to south, with participants including National Taiwan University, National Chung Hsing University, National Tsing Hua University, Fu Jen Catholic University, Feng Chia University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Cheng Kung University, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.
The program also gave students a look at Taiwan beyond campus life. A Bunun student studying in Melbourne introduced Indigenous culture, while a former New Colombo Plan scholarship recipient discussed his experience studying abroad in Taiwan, according to CNA.
Taiwan’s education office in Australia said the Ministry of Education offered more than 50 scholarships for Australian students last year. It said there has been a rise in interest toward Taiwan-related technology, language, and industry programs, per the report.
Applications for the Ministry of Education’s Taiwan Scholarship close on Tuesday.
