TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The first direct, round-trip charter flight between Kinmen and Nha Trang, Vietnam, launched on Wednesday.
The flight brought 62 international travelers to Kinmen and later took 227 Kinmen residents to Nha Trang, according to CNA. Hsu Chi-hsin (許績鑫), the director of Kinmen County Government’s tourism department, said the charter model is intended to make it easier for international travelers to visit Kinmen.
To incentivize tourism operators, the charter subsidy program offers a grant of NT$1 million (US$31,658) per round-trip flight for destinations outside Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China, Hsu said, per CNA. This is provided the average passenger load factor for round-trip flights exceeds 60%.
Hsu revealed that negotiations for a potential charter flight to Malaysia are currently underway.
The Kinmen tourism department said that following the successful introduction of Phu Quoc and Brunei routes over the past two years, the expansion into Nha Trang will enhance regional connectivity and promote international tourism exchanges, CNA reported.
