TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kaohsiung on Tuesday launched an NT$100 million (US$3.17 million) incentive program aimed at boosting industrial investment.
The Kaohsiung Economic Development Bureau said the program targets key sectors including semiconductors, electric vehicles, and green energy, per CNA. Applications are open through July 1.
The bureau said subsidies cover financing interest, rent, taxes, and wages for new hires. Companies must invest at least NT$30 million or hire 30 local workers, with lower thresholds for priority industries.
Kaohsiung Economic Development Bureau Director Liao Tai-hsiang (廖泰翔) said the initiative aims not only to expand investment but also to help companies upgrade. He said the city is pushing a dual transformation strategy focused on net-zero emissions and digitalization.
Liao said investment momentum remains strong, with committed investment exceeding NT$1.14 trillion, per Liberty Times. Recent projects led by ASE Technology Holding and related firms are expected to create more than 2,200 jobs.
Since its launch in 2013, the program has supported 171 projects, driving nearly NT$120 billion in investment. It has also created more than 26,000 jobs, according to the bureau.
