TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) returned Tuesday from a two-day visit to Eswatini, where he served as President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) special envoy to promote bilateral cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Lin visited Manzini Government Hospital with Eswatini Health Minister Mduduzi Matsebula, where he observed a “smart outpatient” system introduced by a Taiwanese medical team. The system features digital registration, smart pharmacy services, and telemedicine.
Installed within six months after facility upgrades, the system has turned the hospital into a model for smart healthcare, Lin said. He added that this marks a shift toward digital and precision medical cooperation.
Lin also highlighted Taiwan-supported training programs for Eswatini medical workers. He encouraged participants of Taiwan programs to apply their skills to strengthen the country’s healthcare system and bilateral ties, per UDN.
Local officials and medical staff expressed appreciation for Taiwan’s long-term public health support. A program representative said the assistance has helped build professional expertise and national capacity.
Lin visited an aquaculture research and production center. The facility uses advanced breeding technologies to help transform small-scale fish farming into a more commercial and profitable sector, Rti reported.
He also went to a fruit demonstration farm growing guava, dragon fruit, and strawberries. The crops are expected to boost farm income and help farmers enter higher-value markets, per CNA.
Lin said the projects are meant to support sustainable industrial development in Eswatini while expanding economic opportunities.
