TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — TPP Chair Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) on Sunday rejected allegations of infighting made by former Yunlin County party chair Lin Ching-kuan (林靖冠).
Lin left the TPP after the party allowed Wang Chun-i (王竣毅), son of convicted Yunlin County Councilor Wang Yu-min (王又民), to contest the same county council seat Lin had sought. Wang later accepted the DPP’s nomination for the race, per Liberty Times.
Lin alleged that when former TPP Chair Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) was campaigning for former Legislator Chang Chi-kai (張啓楷) in Chiayi City, Ko sent Secretary-General Chou Yu-hsiu (周榆修) to monitor Huang.
Huang rejected the claim, saying the TPP does not have internal factional disputes, per ETtoday. He said Lin had asked the party to bypass its primary process and directly nominate a candidate for the Yunlin seat he sought, a request the party denied. Huang added he would not comment further on someone who left the party to run under another banner.
Ko also dismissed the allegation, saying he did not know “where this bizarre information came from,” per mnews.
Lin further accused TPP Legislative Caucus Leader Chen Chih-han (陳智菡) of interrupting a meeting between Ko and a party donor in 2025 and refusing to leave when asked, per FTV. Ko responded that he was detained throughout 2025 and therefore could not have attended such a meeting.
Chen said Ko was no longer party chair at the time of the alleged meeting, per NOWNews. Lin later revised his account, saying the meeting took place in January 2024, per FTV.
Wang Chun-i criticized Lin’s departure, saying that if Lin had confidence in his leadership, he should have participated in the party’s primary rather than seeking direct nomination and withdrawing before a contest, per Mirror Media.
Wang Yu-min also responded, saying his case is still under appeal and that Lin should not have invoked it against him or his family, per NOWNews.
