TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Fubon Bank launched its “Fubon Green Action: Sustainable Impact+” program in conjunction with a green market event and a secondhand bag reuse initiative, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility among employees.
The bank stated it collaborated with the Ministry of Environment on the “Take a Bag, Return a Bag” initiative, encouraging employees to contribute to a circular economy and reduce plastic and paper waste.
The initiative coincided with Earth Day and formed part of the bank’s annual employee sustainability program. Additional internal engagement programs were designed to integrate sustainability into daily consumption and workplace practices.
This year’s program includes a second-hand bag recycling platform encouraging employees to donate unused, clean paper and reusable bags, which are then redistributed to businesses and traditional markets for reuse, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on responsible consumption and production.
The event also featured appearances by P. League+ basketball players from the Taipei Fubon Braves, creating a lively atmosphere as they interacted with employees and supported vendors at a green market outside the Fubon Financial Center building in Taipei on Wednesday.
Players included Tseng Hsiang-chun (曾祥鈞), Hung Kai-chieh (洪楷傑), and Spencer Lin (林俊佑), who served as event ambassadors, visiting stalls and engaging with participants. The market brought together more than 10 environmentally friendly small farmers and social enterprises. Employees purchased local, seasonal, and low-carbon products, with more than 1,000 kilograms of goods sold within three hours.
Taipei Fubon Bank plans to roll out 10 green market events across Taiwan this year, aiming to surpass last year’s total sales of more than NT$1.38 million (US$43,700). Each event will integrate a bag reuse initiative to facilitate the redistribution of collected bags to vendors and organizations in need.
Taipei Fubon Bank stated that Earth Day serves not only as an awareness event but also as a point of reflection for companies to continuously assess and fulfill their environmental responsibilities in daily operations. The bank has promoted ESG-related employee initiatives for six consecutive years, encouraging gradual changes in purchasing behavior and lifestyle habits to embed sustainability into corporate culture.
In line with this year’s Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” the bank said individuals can contribute to environmental protection through everyday actions. The campaign combines education, consumption choices, and habit-building to promote carbon reduction, reduced plastic use, and greener living.
The bank is also enhancing sustainability awareness through monthly interactive quizzes and incentives totaling NT$300,000 to encourage employee participation and cross-departmental collaboration. In 2025, employees achieved an average carbon reduction of 517.63 kilograms per person, earning recognition in a regional carbon reduction initiative spanning Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan.
Looking ahead, Taipei Fubon Bank said it will continue to expand its sustainability efforts, with a focus on strengthening internal practices and embedding environmental and social responsibility into its core values.
