TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) will lead a multiparty delegation of lawmakers to visit France and the UK next month, reports said Wednesday.
During the May 9-17 trip, the group will attend a meeting of Taiwanese businesspeople in Europe, visit Taiwan’s representative offices, and meet politicians and Taiwanese residents, per CNA. The main aim of the journey is to promote legislative diplomacy, officials said.
After taking office in 2024, Han made an official foreign trip to Japan in September. His delegation toured Expo Osaka and held talks with the Japan-ROC Diet Members’ Consultative Conference, an association of Japanese lawmakers who frequently visit Taiwan.
The membership of Han’s delegation has been determined according to proportional representation, with the KMT and the DPP each proposing four lawmakers, and the TPP one.
One of the participants in the mission to Europe will be DPP Legislator Lin Chu-yin (林楚茵), as she chairs the Taiwan-France Parliamentary Friendship Association, CNA reported.
