TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Industrial Technology Research Institute to combine defense research capabilities with private-sector strengths in artificial intelligence and computing power.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by NCSIST supervisor Chen Cheng-jan (陳正然), ITRI Chair Wu Tsung-tsong (吳政忠), and Taiwan Drone-Tech Integration Consortium Chair Luis Ko (高志明), among others, Military News Agency reported.
The partnership aims to establish an intelligent technology development platform and strengthen Taiwan’s advanced defense R&D capabilities.
Future areas of cooperation will focus on developing innovative next-generation unmanned vehicles, autonomous swarm control systems, industrialization planning for standardized hardware and software platforms, and the development and application of microwave high-energy unmanned systems, per Military News Agency. The two sides will also conduct broad exchanges in related technologies, resources, and talent.
The deal will allow R&D resources to be more effectively concentrated on key technologies such as propulsion systems and communication modules, per Military News Agency.
NCSIST said this cross-institutional collaboration will also promote the localization of key components and increase the development potential of unmanned systems. NCSIST emphasized that it would continue to deepen cooperation with domestic and international partners across various sectors and institutions.
