TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) on Tuesday nominated three additional members to the Central Election Commission.
The nominees, submitted to the Legislative Yuan, are former Cabinet Counsellor Shen Shu-fei (沈淑妃), lawyer Tsai Wei-che (蔡維哲), and Deputy Minister of Justice Huang Mou-hsin (黃謀信), per CNA. Cho said all three are nonpartisan and were selected for their legal expertise and public service experience.
Speaking during a legislative session, Cho said four previously approved CEC members will be appointed immediately to prepare for year-end elections. He urged lawmakers to expedite the review of the three new nominees.
Shen, 65, is a National Taiwan University law graduate with experience in the Cabinet and the Interior Ministry. Her background includes roles as a senior specialist in the Cabinet and interior ministry chief secretary.
Tsai, 33, is a partner at Lin and Shih law firm and holds degrees in law and economics from National Taiwan University. His areas of expertise include constitutional and administrative law, as well as civil and criminal litigation.
Huang, 58, is a law graduate of National Chung Hsing University with advanced degrees from National Chengchi University. He serves as deputy minister of justice.
If approved, Shen and Tsai will serve terms through Nov. 3, 2029, while Huang’s term will run until Nov. 3, 2027.
