TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s export orders hit a record NT$2.86 trillion (US$91.12 billion) in March, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said Tuesday.
The ministry said export orders rose by 65.9% from a year earlier for a 14th straight month of growth, per CNA. Cumulative export orders in the first three months of the year totaled NT$7.29 trillion, also a record high for the same period, up 50% year-on-year.
By product category, the ministry said demand fueled by the AI boom and emerging technology applications drove growth in information and communications products and electronic products, with March orders rising 120.9% and 73.7% from a year earlier.
Orders for optical equipment rose 4.2% in March, supported by continued growth in orders for optical inspection and measurement equipment, reported CNA.
