TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The second Taiwan-France Science and Research Conference opened in Grenoble on Monday, covering science and technology.
The two-day meeting will focus on deepening collaboration in fields including quantum technology, biomedicine and cybersecurity, and more, per CNA.
The partnership builds on an agreement signed in November 2023 between Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council and France’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space. The agreement set the six priority areas and established regular bilateral conferences.
NSTC Minister Wu Cheng-wen (誠文表), who is leading the Taiwan delegation, said the two countries have more than 30 years of research collaboration. He said funding programs and exchanges have made France one of Taiwan’s most important research partners in Europe.
Wu also met with French counterparts to discuss developments in the country’s research ecosystem. He also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Taiwan’s National Institutes of Applied Research and Inserm.
The NSTC said more than 100 participants are attending the conference, with activities including keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops. Representatives from major research institutions also took part, including the French National Research Agency and Inria.
The NSTC added that the conference aims to advance concrete projects and build a stronger technology partnership between Taiwan and France.
