TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Navy’s Dunmu Goodwill Fleet will head to Belize after docking in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, reports said Friday.
The three ships started their first visit in 21 years to the diplomatic ally on Thursday, the Liberty Times reported. As on previous stops in the Caribbean, Taiwanese and local inhabitants gave the crew a warm welcome, according to the report.
Taiwan’s embassy in Belize posted on its Facebook page that the fleet would arrive on April 22. The post invited residents and families including children to register for a tour of the “Navy Ship Open House.” The event will also feature marching bands and martial arts for the fleet’s first visit to Belize in 13 years.
The three ships taking part in this year’s Dunmu program are the Kang Ding-class guided missile frigate Di Hua, the Cheng Kung-class guided missile frigate Yue Fei, and the support ship Panshih.
